The Hibiscus flowers selected by Sambavanilla come directly from Egypt where its cultivation is ancestral. It was in fact already cultivated in the time of the pharaohs for its medicinal properties.
There are many varieties of Hibiscus and Sambavanilla has selected the hibiscus sabdarifa which has the best taste qualities.
The flowers, called chalices, are edible and used for the production of jam, jelly and especially refreshing drinks. They have an attractive red color and a slightly tart taste.
The red color is due to the richness of the chalices in anthocyanins which would present several medicinal and nutritional interests in particular for reducing blood pressure.
Hibiscus flowers are involved in the production of thirst-quenching and toning drinks. In Egypt it is called "drink of the pharaohs", but it has other names depending on the country such as Karkadé or bissap.
You can use the dried Hibiscus flowers both for the preparation of refreshing drinks and hot infusions alone or in addition to other products.
Hibiscus is also very suitable for the preparation of rums arranged in association with fruits (raspberries, lychees, ...), vanilla or even spices such as ginger and star anise star anise.
